We collect minimal information necessary to deliver a premium, personalized letter-writing experience:
- Account Information: If you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google (via our authentication system).
- Letter Data: When you write a letter, we store the content (text, paper styles, handwriting choice, envelope color, wax seal preferences, and the sender/recipient names) so that we can generate a shareable web link and display it to the recipient.
- Payment Data: Subscription transactions are handled entirely by our secure payment gateway partner, Razorpay. We do not store or process your credit card number, CVV, or net banking details on our servers.
- Usage & Device Information: We collect anonymous log data and analytics (such as screen size, operating system version, page load speeds, and generic geolocation) using Vercel Analytics to maintain and optimize the Site.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create, host, and render your letters when visited via their unique, private share links.
- Provide customer support and respond to billing or service inquiries.
- Process billing and subscription packages via Razorpay.
- Prevent abuse, harassment, or malicious actions on our servers.
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We will never sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only with trusted service providers essential to our operations:
- Neon DB: For secure database hosting.
- Razorpay: To process payments and subscription billing.
- NextAuth (Auth.js) / Google: To verify your identity when signing in.
- Vercel: To host the web application and collect crash/performance metrics.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Letters created on the free tier without signing in are encoded entirely in the URL hash and are not stored in our central database, making them anonymous and transient. Registered users can view every letter they've sent in their personal “Letter Vault.” Once a letter is sent, it cannot be edited or deleted — its share link is permanent and remains valid for as long as the service operates.
5. Security
We protect your personal data using industry-standard secure socket layers (SSL/HTTPS) and database-level security protocols. However, because letter links are public to anyone who possesses the link, you are responsible for sharing them only with your intended recipient.
